Churches, Orphans, and Other Local Leaders

Orphans and their temporary caretakers are coming to churches in record numbers seeking help.  With 500 people dying everyday because of AIDS related illnesses and 1,000 children becoming orphaned everyday, churches are trying to provide well over ½ of the basic education, health, and food needs for the orphans and their caretakers.

We are partnering with church leaders and helping them develop Local Action Plans that outline what their community is trying to accomplish, what resources are available, what gaps exist, and how to move forward.

FVI partners with graduates of two seminaries in Zimbabwe (TCZ, CLRC) and is exploring partnering with graduates in Zambia (TCCA).  These educational institutions are ideal, as the community often sends their pastors to receive formal training and then these pastors return to their communities after they finish, making them well-informed leaders.
